Lately, T.R. and I have realized what it really means to be in the adult world. We've been married just over 4 months and in the last 2 months our "nest" seems to be falling apart. It started one morning when I woke up to the screeching sound of our AC. We had someone come out to take a look and they said we needed to replace the unit. YES- the ENTIRE unit! I told him thanks, but no thanks and I still had to fork out $75 for nothing! Real world lesson #1 - no such thing as a free quote from the AC dudes. Our town home was built in 1998 and I just knew we didn't need a new unit. So, I called good ol' Mom and she told me to call the company they use. They came out, cleaned the unit, put us on a maintenance schedule and it's been fine ever since. Real world lesson #2 - AC's do not clean themselves :)
Our most recent problem is that our back door has gotten harder and harder to close. The wood looks swollen and the door step looks funny. TR took some pictures and brought them to Home Depot and come to find out, the whole door frame is rotten! Mr. Home Depot said we better hope the rot has not spread into the walls. Yay - all we need is one more worry! Home Depot - you can do it, we can help? Not so much on this project. We def aren't carpenters so we need to find a professional that can come out and replace the entire door and frame for a reasonable price. Any suggestions?
So much for using our home budget on hardwood floors - looks like I'll be getting a new door and frame. Woohoo! Maybe I can at least upgrade to french doors :)
